ICC ODI Rankings: Virat Kohli remains on top, Aaron Finch reaches top-5

Team India’s captain Virat Kohli has strengthened his position at the top of the ICC ODI rankings. Virat leads the ICC in the latest rankings released on Thursday with 870 points. At the same time, despite being out of the series against Australia, Rohit Sharma remains at number-2.


Virat recently played 89 and 63 runs in the last 2 matches of the ODI series against Australia. Rohit has 842 rating points followed by Pakistan’s Babar Azam (837) 


Australia captain Aaron Finch has gained 2 places to number 5 with 791 points. Finch had scored 114, 60 and 75 runs in the ODI series. India suffered a 1-2 defeat in the 3-match ODI series against Australia. However, the visiting team made a comeback and won the T20 series 2-1.


Star batsman Hardik Pandya, who played an unbeaten innings of 90 in the first match of the ODI series and 92 in the third match, made it to the top-50 for the first time. He is ranked 49th with 553 points. Steve Smith, who has scored consecutive centuries in the first two matches of the series, returns to the top-20 since 2018. He currently sits 15th with 707 points. Glenn Maxwell has reached number 20, scoring a total of 167 runs in three matches of the ODI series at a strike rate of 194.18.

Talking about the bowlers, Australia’s Josh Hazlewood has moved up one place to number-6 while India’s star pacer Jasprit Bumrah is at number-3. Leg-spinner Adam Jampa managed to make it to the top-20 for the first time, finishing 14th with 623 points
